Level 3 Childcare Apprenticeship – Dell Cottage Nursery

Shoots Training are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking individual to complete their Level 3 Childcare Apprenticeship at Dell Cottage Nursery, Christchurch.

Requirements;

• A Level 2 Childcare qualification would be desirable or previous experience in a nursery setting
• You must be able to gain a clear DBS
• Preferably have GCSE grades A*-C or 4-9 in Maths and English, or equivalent or willing to work towards them

Welcome to Dell Cottage Day Nursery, on the outskirts of Dorset. A family run nursery since 2006. Our vision is for your child to feel safe and happy in an environment where they can express individual characteristics and develop self-discipline and independence. We recognise that a child's journey through their early years, has the opportunity to shape their future. We strive to ensure that throughout their learning journey, children are given the richest of experiences to create happy memories that will last a lifetime.

Children of the ages 2 - 5 years, occupy the entire ground floor and have free flow throughout the rooms and outdoors. Each room is painted a different colour; Purple Room dedicated to sensory play, Blue Room for imaginative play with dressing up, Messy Room for art & craft activities, a large Yellow Room which leads out onto a beautiful patio garden and a Green Room for play.

As well as our beautiful spacious garden at the front of the property, we also have use of a large patio garden for the preschool children. Our gardens are designed to bring the indoors-out, with access to painting, craft, messy play, books, water play, planting and so much more. We encourage the children to learn about the outdoor environment and motivate the children to grow their own plants, explore insects etc.

Children of the ages 2 years and under, have use of the entire top floor of the building, which comprises of; Purple Room dedicated to play, Messy Room for art and craft activities and two sleep rooms. They also have their own designated garden space, which has been newly refurbed with soft astroturf and modern summer house building.
There are great transport links to and from the nursery 

Your duties and responsibilities will include;

• Act as a Key Worker for a group of children, supporting their individual needs, development and wellbeing.
• Plan and provide age-appropriate activities based on children’s interests and developmental needs.
• Observe, assess and record children’s learning and progress in line with the EYFS.
• Build positive and professional relationships with children, parents/carers and colleagues.
• Ensure children’s health, safety, safeguarding and welfare are maintained at all times.
• Support children’s personal care routines, including meals, toileting and sleep routines where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate learning journals, observations and development records.
• Work as part of the team to maintain a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
• Follow nursery policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements.
• Complete the requirements of the Level 3 Childcare Apprenticeship, developing knowledge and practical skills throughout the placement.

Hours;

• Dell Cottage Nursery is open from 8:00am – 6:00pm Monday to Friday
• The successful candidate will be required to work 35 hours per week
