Job Overview
The Room Leader provides professional leadership to the team during a busy day within the nursery, ensuring high-quality care, education, and compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Key Aims:


Ensure full regulatory compliance.
Deliver outstanding care and education.
Support, develop, and manage nursery staff under rota/your control.
Build positive relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You are able to ensure the safety and welfare of children through a confident knowledge of safeguarding processes and procedures
  • You are able to implement the EYFS with a good understanding of child development
  • You will be able to support all nursery staff in their roles, leading them to deliver outstanding childcare
  • You are a strong communicator with both adults and children
  • You are able to work well within a team
  • You recognise when to report issues of concern to a senior team member or relevant services
  • You are able to work in partnership with parents and our partners to ensure our children thrive
  • You always maintain a positive attitude with children, parents, colleagues and visitors
  • You are creative and inspire learning as well as great at planning and organising

Qualifications:


Minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification (full and relevant).
Designated Safeguarding Lead qualification.
Safer Recruitment training.
Paediatric First Aid certification.
Food Hygiene Level 2.


Skills & Competencies:
Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
Excellent organisational, planning, and IT skills.
Ability to recruit, develop, motivate, and support staff.
Strong record-keeping, report writing, and observational skills.
Ability to manage priorities, maintain confidentiality, and work effectively with parents and external agencies.
Confidence in supporting children with SEND.
Knowledge
Thorough understanding of the EYFS and current inspection framework.
Excellent knowledge of safeguarding, child welfare, health and safety, and hygiene requirements.
