Position: Flexible Nursery Practitioner / Bank Worker

Hours: 8am-1pm / 1pm-6pm / 8am-6pm,  Monday to Friday (To suit your availability) 

Hourly Rate for Unqualified: £10.50 - £12.50 (£11.76 – 14.00 inc rolled up holiday pay)

Hourly Rate for Level 2 Qualified: £12.55 - £12.85 (£14.00 – 14.40 inc rolled up holiday pay)

Hourly Rate for Level 3 Qualified: £13.15 - £14.00 (£14.72 – 15.68 inc rolled up holiday pay)

We are a family-run business with 25 years of experience and eight beautiful nurseries across Buckinghamshire and West London. All of our nurseries have been designed with stunning rooms, exceptional resources and inspiring garden spaces.

What we are looking for:

We are excited to grow our Hungry Caterpillar Bank Worker Team to provide flexible support across our group of eight nurseries. We’re looking for an enthusiastic, reliable team player who is passionate about working with children and can confidently step into different nursery settings as needed. If you thrive in a dynamic environment and love making a positive impact wherever you go, we’d love to welcome you to our team!

Prior experience in a nursery or early years setting is preferred, but not essential.

Relevant qualifications in Childcare or Early Years Education are advantageous.

As a Bank Nursery Practitioner, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing flexible support to our nursery team, stepping in where needed to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Assisting with day-to-day activities, including play, creative tasks, and learning experiences that support children’s development.
  • Helping with routines such as mealtimes, nappy changing, and transitions, ensuring children feel calm and secure.
  • Working alongside permanent staff to maintain an inclusive and positive atmosphere in the nursery.
  • Following all safeguarding, health & safety, and nursery policies to keep children safe and well cared for.
  • Bringing a helpful, team-focused attitude and be ready to adapt to the needs of the setting on any given day.
  • Taking opportunities to learn and develop your skills, with support from our experienced team.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and does require a Disclosure Barring Scheme check. Applicants must be prepared to disclose any convictions they may have and any orders which have been made against them.

Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, as all new staff will be subject to enhanced DBS clearance, identity checks, qualification checks and employment checks to include an exploration of any gaps within employment, two satisfactory references and registration with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
