Job Role: Nursery SENCO  

Hours: 40 hours per week

Salary: £27,144 +  £400 Qualification Bonus - We value the dedication and expertise of our Level 3 Practitioners. This bonus will be paid after just 6 months of service, making it the perfect time to join our team and be recognized for your qualifications and contributions. (based on a 40hr working week, bonus will be pro-rota for part time staff) 

SEN Experience - Essential

Level 3 Childcare Qualification – Essential

Ramsey Day Nursery are looking for a full time SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator) to join their team to work alongside the current designated SENCO to help grown and enhance the high quality provision already in place to more children and families.

This role would involve taking a lead on SEN provision within the setting, working with practitioners, SEN Support Assistants, Parents and Outside agencies for the best interests of the child. Including duties such as report writing, tracking, planning, undertaking and modelling personalised interventions and bespoke learning environments and opportunities created to suit the development needs of children under SEN provision.

For this position you would need to have an understanding of the Local Authorities SEN Services and referral processes however we are happy to provide refresher training and up to date knowledge of our processes and procedures to the correct candidate.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Be a point of contact for the nursery team to offer support and guidance to meet the needs of individual children.
  • Provide targeted enhanced ratio support for children within rooms in line with their SEND support plans or to gain a better understanding of what the needs of the child may be.
  • Enhance the all-around daily provision for the needs of children, including their physical, intellectual, social and emotional development
  • Ensure there is close liaison with parents on all aspects of Special Educational Needs and inclusive provision. To support key people with parent meetings as required.
  • Assist staff in updating the EyLog system and their child learning journals with the highest quality
  • Promote respect and credibility for this position by leading as a role model with impartiality and consistency
  • Liaise with outside agencies such as the Speech and Language service or a physiotherapist, as and when appropriate. To ensure these meetings and sessions are documented and shared with the parents.
  • Assist with embedding an effective key person approach to enable children to form secure attachments and identify training or development needs for staff
  • Maintain accurate records and accounts relating to children and staff on EyMan system and on file
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child, staff, parent and visitor at all times
  • Understand and ensure that the requirements of the statutory framework for the EYFS are met

Requirements and skills:

  • Full and relevant Level 3 in Childcare qualification - Essential
  • Over 1 year’s experience working in Early Years - Essential
  • Experience of being a SENCO or working with children with SEND - Essential
  • Familiar with the SEN Code of practice - Essential
  • Sound knowledge of Ofsted expectations to achieve a Good or Outstanding rating - Desirable
  • Have knowledge of the referral process, in line with the Local Authority’s Special Educational Needs services - Desirable
  • Knowledge of the statutory framework for the EYFS and regulatory requirements - Essential
  • Fluent in written and spoken English – Essential
