Nursery Assistant Chef
Schedule: 30 hours per week, all-year round
The right candidate will deputise for the nursery chef in their absence, which may require some flexibility in working hours
Stationhouse Nursary are looking for a Nursery Assistant Chef to join their growing team in 2024. In this role you will need to assist the Nursery Chef and prepare and cook lunch and tea for the children within the nursery. Our Assistant Chef will be required to work for 20 hours, 5 days per week, all year round to fit in with the needs of the nursery.
Nursery Assistant Chef roles and responsibilities:
- Washing, peeling and preparing food ingredients .
- Keep the kitchen a clean and safe environment, adhering to internal and external requirements; complete the Kitchen Hygiene Checklist each month, and ensure that the Cleaning Schedule is complete and adhered to, being regularly updated and displayed prominently in the kitchen.
- Unloading fresh supplies and organising the stock room.
- Checking sell-by dates and rotating food stock.
- Ensure the highest levels of cleanliness and hygiene in the nursery and kitchen
- Observing cooking times and correct temperatures.
- Supporting the chef with dishing up meals, requiring an understanding of allergies.
- Loading and unloading dishwasher.
- Helping with light household tasks such as washing and light cleaning.
Nursery Assistant Cheft skills and requirements :
- Able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of managing different dietary requirements around food allergies - essential
- Sound Knowledge of COSHH - essential
- Able to work to a catering budget, in a manner that avoids fluctuating standards of food service - essential
- Experience and qualified to the appropriate level in any role which involves cooking in domestic or commercial property - essential
- Fluent in written and spoken English at GCSE grade C (or equivalent) - essential
- Experienced and passionate about any role that involves cooking for young children - desirable
