Nursery Assistant    |          40 hours          |          £23,920 per annum

Are you enthusiastic, creative, and love working with children? Flitwick Day Nursery is looking for a Nursery Assistant to join our team in the Foxes Room, working with our energetic and curious 2-3-year-olds!

In this role, you’ll be supporting little ones as they reach key development milestones, sparking their imagination, and helping them explore the world through play. Whether it’s creating awe and wonder, telling the same story 20 times with excitement, or transforming a simple box into a magical castle, every day will be an adventure!

In this role, you’ll help children reach important milestones, ignite their imaginations, and encourage them to explore the world through play. From reading the same story 20 times with excitement, singing nursery rhymes with gusto, or transforming a cardboard box into a magical castle, every day brings new adventures and joy.

At Flitwick Day Nursery, no two days are the same. You’ll spend your time getting hands-on with playdough, building towers, creating mark-making masterpieces, and encouraging imaginative play both indoors and in our lovely garden space.

Our nursery is located on Steppingley Road in Flitwick, just a short walk from the train station, making it convenient and easy to reach.

As Nursery Assistant, you will:

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child, staff, parent and visitor at all times
  • Understand the requirements of the statutory framework for the EYFS and staff:child ratios
  • Provide engaging and purposeful experiences, environments and resources to children, that are appropriate to their age and stage of development
  • Facilitate a strong key person approach to enable children to form secure attachments and cover all children daily when colleagues are absent
  • Observe and support children’s development, update the EyLog system and children’s learning journals with accuracy and relevance, and seek guidance from colleagues or Room Leader if in doubt
  • Provide the all-around daily needs of children, including their physical, intellectual, social and emotional development

As Nursery Assistant, you will need:

  • Undertaking a full and relevant Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualification - desirable
  • Fluent in written and spoken English - essential
  • Over 6 months experience of working in Early Years - essential
  • Knowledge of the Statutory framework for the EYFS and regulatory requirements - desirable
