Childcare Apprenticeship - Level 3 - Sunbeams Day Nursery, Weymouth

Sunbeams Day Nursery, Weymouth, are seeking a reliable, dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join their setting as a Level 3 Childcare Apprentice. This is an exciting opportunity and one for those looking to progress in their childcare career.

Sunbeams have a large free flow accessible garden which means the children can chose to come inside or go outside as and when they would like. Their outside area is surrounded by fields, which look over the coast, all the way down to Portland Bill. Under our watchful eyes, the children are free to explore the garden, play with the swings, in the sandpit and wendy houses, and ride bicycles and scooters.

At one end of the garden, we have a small fenced off farm area with chickens, bunnies, guinea pigs, quails and a pond filled with fish. The children help the staff daily to collect the eggs and feed the animals.
The children use the eggs for our cooking activities and enjoy learning about how to look after and care for them. We have had our chickens since tiny hatchling's and our bunnies since they were newly born so the children have been a huge part of the growing process. We also have a vegetable patch and a greenhouse tunnel for the children to plant a wide variety of vegetables.

Their baby room is a fun-loving environment, with free flow access to a small, baby-safe garden. The babies can play with a variety of different toys to help build up their sensory and physical development.
At the nursery, they have a safe environment where they can learn to crawl, walk, talk and interact with lots of other children of their age.

Your duties and responsibilities will include;

• Key worker for babies
• Undertaking all the needs of the children; changing, feeding and interacting – Play, educating, working towards next steps of the child’s care, monitoring progress, food preparation, general housekeeping duties

Requirements;

• You will need to hold a minimum of Level 2 Childcare qualification or otherwise, experience of at least 6 months to a year in a nursery setting
• You must be able to gain a clear DBS
• Have GCSE grades A*-C or 4-9 in Maths and English Language, or equivalent
• Must have a Paediatric first aid certificate

Hours;

• Sunbeams are open between 07:00 – 18:00 and run all year round
• The candidate would need to work a minimum of 30 hours per week with shift patterns to be discussed

Qualities Required;

• Be reliable
• Be committed to the role 
• Someone who can step in to the role that has had experience in working with babies
• Must be a good team player and is able to communicate with staff, parents and outside agencies
