Childcare Apprenticeship - Level 3 - Woodlands, Fareham
The Aspire Training Team are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking individual to complete their Level 3 Childcare Apprenticeship at Woodlands in their Fareham setting
Woodlands was established over 18 years ago and our ethos has remained the same now as it was back then. We have always strived to provide the best childcare setting possible not only for the children we care for but to raise the standard of childcare in general. We started out with that aim and over the years have gone above and beyond what we expected and hoped for.

Your roles and responsibilities will include;
- To work as a member of the nursery team to ensure that all children attending the setting receive high quality care, are kept safe and receive rich and stimulating play experiences which meet their individual needs and the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- To establish an initial relationship with the parent/carers through induction visits.
- Observe, support and extend children’s learning.
- Plan appropriately for children using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum for guidance.
- Complete children’s developmental records using, ‘Tapestry’ and routinely monitor to ensure children are making adequate progress
- Maintain accurate and effective children’s records and carry out Parents Evening twice a year.
- Work in partnership with parents/carers and other family members.
- Demonstrate good practice with regard to inclusion and equality and diversity.
- Work with the Childcare and Education team to continuously improve the quality of childcare and education.
- Ensure that the nutritional needs of the children are met and that Food Safety Regulations are complied with.
- Work with area INCOs, EYFS advisors and Health Professionals where necessary.
- Comply with the statutory framework for the EYFS or relevant statutory regulations for Scotland and Wales: relevant legislation including the Children Act 1989 and 2004.
- Develop and maintain highly professional working relationships with advisory teachers, schools, area INCOs and other agencies that may visit the setting.
- Learn about current developments in childcare and education policy and practice.
- Be a key person carrying out all related responsibilities in building relationships with a small group of children and their families.
- Complete parents evening reports, 2 year check assessments and setting liaising forms where necessar
- Undertake a shared responsibility for health, safety and cleanliness throughout the nursery.
- Ensure the general cleanliness of the children at all times.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Be fully aware of all emergency and security procedures, e.g. fire precautions, security, dropping off and collecting of children.
- Operate the highest standard of hygiene and cleanliness in order to safeguard children and remain healthy.
- Make sure all outside areas are safe and secure and that any broken toys are reported.
- Promote the nursery to current parents and potential customers.
- Work with the manager and inspectors during inspections by regulatory bodies and to assist in the implementation of any recommendations.
- Work as a team with other staff members and be respectful of everyone’s views and opinions.
- Support and mentor students.
- Be responsible for participating in all self-development activities including appraisals, supervisions etc.
- Be flexible, moving between age groups when numbers/staffing call for it.
- Ensure professional boundaries are maintained (Social Media)
- Develop and promote parental partnership and involvement.
- Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by line management.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Ensure the company’s policies on diversity and equal opportunities are adhered to.
- To effectively communicate with the settings INCO should the key person have any concerns regarding individual development.
- Ensure that children are kept safe and that staff understand, and follow Child Safeguarding Procedures.
- Be aware, understand and adhere to the Prevent Duty responsibilities within the setting
- To ensure any changes in personal circumstances that may affect your suitability to work with children are reported to your manager
- Understand your duty as a childcare professional to report any potential safeguarding concerns regarding staff, children or parent
Requirements;
- Level 2 Childcare Qualification is essential when applying for this role
- You must be able to gain a clear DBS
- Have GCSE grades A*-C or 4-9 in Maths and English Language, or equivalent
- A sound knowledge of child development for children from birth to five years
- An understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and Every Child Matters
- An understanding of a play based approach to children’s learning and development
- Knowledge of safeguarding practices
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to develop effective relationships with colleagues, parents and outside agencies
- Good time management skills
- Good I.C.T. skills
- A natural caring empathy with children of all ages.
Hours;
- Woodlands is open from 07.30-18:00 Monday to Friday
- The successful candidate will be required to work a minimum of 38 hours per week, with shift patterns to be discussed
