Job Description

We are looking for a Nursery Assistant to join the team at Woosehill Day Nursery & Pre-School, working full-time Monday to Friday. Part-time applicants will also be considered (must cover busiest days).

Woosehill Day Nursery is located in the Woosehill area of Wokingham, near to Chestnut Park, and benefits from its own car park and large outdoor area.

Purpose of the role



  • To train towards a recognised childcare qualification.
  • To provide high quality childcare for children in your care.
  • To model the positive behaviours of your peers.

Children’s Care, Learning and Development

  • Promote quality and best practices in care, learning and development of babies and children including resources, experiences, planning and record keeping.
  • Promote the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
  • To operate a programme of activities suitable to the age and stage of development of children.
  • To keep proper records of achievements and undertake observations which will contribute to children’s Learning Journeys.
  • Work with parents of children who have special educational/additional needs to maximise potential.
  • Support all staff and engage in effective communication with colleagues.
  • Liaise with and support parents and other family members.
  • To be involved in ALL out of work hours activities, e.g. training, staff meetings, summer fete, and Christmas events.
  • To be flexible within working practices of nursery.  Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within nursery e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleaning of equipment.

Other responsibilites include

  • Supporting the management team in ensuring the nursery is clean and inviting and that all matters of healthy and safety are shared between management and nursery staff, adhering to all health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Building good relationships with colleagues and support staff as and when necessary.
  • Covering staff and support other nurseries within the group when necessary.
